Chair of our Board of Trustees elected Academy of Medical Sciences Fellow

It was announced today (22/5/25) that Chair of our Board of Trustees, Professor Deborah Dunn-Walters, has been elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences Fellowship. Alongside 54 exceptional scientists across a wide range of disciplines, Deborah was recognised for her remarkable contribution to biomedical and health sciences.

She joins an esteemed Fellowship of 1,450 researchers who are at the heart of the Academy’s work supporting the next generation of scientists and shaping research and health policy.

Deborah said: “I am honoured to be elected as Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. B cells and antibodies are critical parts of the immune system to help protect us from disease.  Understanding how they change with age is important for the design of preventative and therapeutic measures for our ageing population. For this, and for all the research-related work I do, I am indebted to research collaborators, students, technicians, professional services, professional societies, funders and our public and patient collaborators.  It takes a large ecosystem of committed people to enable medical research, and I thank you all.”

Chief Executive of the Vivensa Foundation, Susan Kay, commented: “We are delighted to see Deborah’s cutting-edge work being recognised. And we are even more thrilled that she brings her deep expertise and support for research and researchers to our board.”
