Meet our new Trustee, Professor Emma Wolverson

We are delighted to welcome our newest Trustee, Professor Emma Wolverson, who will be attending her first Board meeting on 10 September 2026. She replaces Michael Bellamy, who served a full two terms.

Emma is Professor of Ageing and Dementia at the Geller Institute of Ageing and Memory, University of West London. This role builds on her years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist working in NHS services for people with dementia. She maintains her contribution to the NHS as an Honorary Clinical Psychologist with Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Improving dementia care

Emma’s research focuses on improving care and support for people living with dementia and their families. In particular, during critical points in the dementia trajectory such as periods of mental health crisis, care transitions, and end-of-life care. She is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring the voices of people with dementia and their families directly shape research and service development.

Emma contributes to the development of high-quality dementia and mental health services nationally and internationally. She is Chair of the Advisory Group for the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Quality Network for Older Adult Mental Health Services (QNOAMHS). She also serves on the Board of INTERDEM, the European network dedicated to psychosocial interventions in dementia care.

Emma says: “I wanted to join the Vivensa Foundation because its values feel very close to my own. My passion is ensuring that research leads to meaningful improvements in people’s lives, particularly for older people and their families. The Vivensa Foundation is a forward-thinking organisation with a genuine commitment to making a difference. I am delighted to be joining at such an exciting time in its development.”
