RCA: Research and design PhD applications now open

RCA (Royal College of Art) welcome PhD applications on Research and design that improves people’s lives.

The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design is the global leader of inclusive design, with a focus on age, health and (dis)ability. The Ageing, Health & Inclusive Design MPhil/PhD programme focuses on the creative and systematic inquiry of issues relating to ageing, health, and/or inclusive design.

Research areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Challenges and opportunities of ageing from a design research perspective
  • Health systems and design responses
  • Designing as a means of care
  • (Dis)ability informing innovation  
  • Learning from diversity to open new horizons and dialogue  
  • Emerging technologies: inclusion or exclusion?  
  • Advancing theories, methods, and practices of inclusive design

PhD: 3-4 years (full time), 6-7 years (part time)

MPhil: 2-3 years (full time), 4-6 years (part time)
