The UK Metascience Unit has launched the National AI in Research Survey to better understand how AI is being used in research. The Unit brings together policymakers, analysts and funding delivery specialists from UK Research and Innovation and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
The survey seeks views from researchers across all disciplines and career stages on:
- How AI is currently used in their research
- What supports or limits their use of AI
- How policy can support responsible and effective AI use in the future
The survey closes at 23:00 on 4 September 2026. Findings will be published and used to inform national policy on AI in research.
