This week is Co-production Week, an annual awareness campaign hosted by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) to recognise the benefits of working in equal partnership with people using health and social care provision. The aim is to discuss, develop and celebrate better ways of doing things in Health and Social Care.
With this year’s theme being ‘Innovation through Co-production’ we thought we would share some of the co-production projects we have funded, and the learning and knowledge that came from them.
The Technology for our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation (TAPPI) project was chaired by Professor Roy Sandbach. It explored how technology can be best used to support older people living in a range of home settings. All aspects of this project were co-produced. It resulted in a brilliant range of resources that are available to all on the Housing LIN website.
Two projects we funded recently put the voices of older people at the heart of exploring ways to build age-friendly communities. The first was led by Professor Andrew Clark at the University of Salford. It explored how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the living environments and social connections of older people in Salford. The second project was led by Dr Mark Hammond of Manchester Metropolitan University. It focused on naturally occurring retirement communities. You can hear them discussing these co-production projects here.
The tools, knowledge and guidance produced in all of this work are invaluable. Why not check out the TAPPI resources on co-production here. You can also view our open funding calls here.
